Biography

  • By profession I am a practicing qualified and registered healthcare psychologist in Amsterdam-NL;
  • Within the EFPA I am convenor of the Board Human Rights & Psychology (BoHR&Psy); the BoHR&Psy develops human rights policies for psychologists and psychologists’ associations;
  • Currently I am organizing an expert meeting Human Rights Education for Psychologists in cooperation with the EIUC in Venice;
  • Social inclusion/exclusion has been my major professional theme throughout my career:
  • practicing in schools for Special Education,
  • teaching and developing curricula on ‘Transcultural Pedagogy’ at university colleges,
  • acting as a consultant to the municipality of The Hague for combating racism in the educational system,
  • by my own institute -C5- I was a consultant and trainer for diversity policies,
  • chairing the division ‘Interculturalization’ of the Netherlands Institute of Psychologists and organizing two conferences on exclusion/inclusion.
  • Editor of a recently published book ‘Identity: exclusion or inclusion
